1. Kip the KEEPSDAKE DOG Pattern
This playful pup with his floppy ears and adorable puppy-dog tail, is a perfect pattern for sewing a child’s best friend. He is an unjointed ‘sitting toy’ designed for memory toys, decor or playtime. He has floppy , “easy arms” which are sewn into the seams plus his nose can be sewn by machine or hand (or even glued on!).
This is the BEST Dog pattern for keepsakes made from baby clothes. ALSO great for embroidery machine owners, those wanting to perfectly center fabric designs, and pet memorials.

2. Puppy Dog Pete Pattern
The Puppy Dog Pete Pattern is a nice easy pattern. I often recommend this dog pattern for beginners. Pete has universal appeal as he’s just a cute floppy dog!
This is the BEST Dog pattern for a baby toy or baby shower gift. ALSO great for a baby or toddler, beginners looking for an easy first pattern, and as a quick project to gift with a quilt. Pairs well with Kitty Kate for a combo cat and dog gift.
What Size is the Puppy Dog Pete Pattern toy pattern?
The Puppy Dog Pete finished toy size is Finished Size: 15”/38cm in length. At his regular size, Pete is a perfect size for a baby toy or a baby keepsake sewn from baby clothes! Here you can see a keepsake Puppy Dog Pete sewn by Wanda Harbour Kirkman.

3. Digger & Dixie Dachshund Pattern
Everyone loves a Dachshund and this dog toy is super cute and very huggable! The Digger & Dixie Dachshund pattern is a frequently the first Funky Friend that people sew! (#firstfunkyfriend). This dog pattern includes 2 options – Dixie with her tail down and Digger with a cute upright ‘puppy’ tail. This a step up in difficulty from Puppy Pete because he has footpads and a tummy gusset…as do all the toys standing on 4 legs.
This is the BEST Dog pattern for home decor and dachshund fans! ALSO great for teens, keepsakes that need a long space for text, and to make a plush dog that other dogs think is real!🤣.

4. Butch & Bella Bulldog Pattern
This dog pattern includes 2 options – Butch the British Bulldog and Bella the French Bulldog ( different ear option included). Butch the Bulldog is a popular gift for adults, and especially those with sports or military affiliations with a bulldog mascot. He looks especially cute in plaid! This is one of the more difficult dog patterns simply because his face has quite a few small pieces. (If you are a beginner, I would try one of my EASY patterns first).

This adorable doggy, with its big endearing eyes, will win the heart of anyone you make her for! Poppy Puppy is the biggest dog pattern and super realistic to real dogs, who tend to think she is real! Everyone seems to find this pattern easy to follow. I’ve only seen 1 question in our pattern group about her, ever!

6. Lucky the Labrador Pattern
Lucky Labrador is a great all-around popular dog option. His tongue and tail make him look extra playful! He’s so cute you’ll want to make a lovable and loyal companion for everyone who has a Labrador or can’t have one! This pattern does have a lot of pieces so I wouldn’t recommend this pattern for beginners but if you really want one, I’m not going to stop you – everyone needs their own PUPPY!

Finally, there’s the Kawaii Kuties Puppy Dog. He’s an easy “front and back only” style toy with a little felt vest. The Kawaii Kuties Dog Pattern includes the super cute doggy jacket with full instructions. (He can exchange clothes with the other Kawaii Kuties in the range of Animal Dolls that were inspired by my trip to Japan).
This is the BEST Dog pattern for kids to sew! This easy pattern make a perfect first sewing project for a beginner because it is QUICK and FUN to make.
