It’s been a week of fabric fun at Missouri Star Quilt Company, which, if you haven’t heard of it before, is basically the Disney World of quilting fabric. Luckily, it was only an hour’s drive from Quilt Market, so I got to visit just in time for the annual set of workshops called Missouri Star Academy.
This mural in the centre of town calls Hamilton “your happy place”…. with 13 fabric stores, you’d definitely agree! These fabric stores completely revitalized the small town of Hamilton, Missouri after the economic downturn and now the business employs around 450 of the towns residents!
Go fabric!!!!!! 😊
Here I am “fossicking” for Kaffe Fasset fabric to turn into new Funky Friends toys …… so many fabrics it’s hard to choose, let alone stay CALM!!! LOL
I LOVE pins – you can never have enough pins, right!?! I bought a great BIG pincushion just like this for all my pins!❤
And look – how exciting – I found some familiar faces in the Kids and Baby fabric store – they stock my Funky Friends Factory Patterns!! YAY!!! 😁
And how cool was this? The lovely lady who cut my fabric was also a Funky Friends Factory fan!!! 😍 She even has this version of Digger Dachshund that she sewed on display in the shop!
We got to do a “Make & Take” sewing class with Baby Lock and made a key chain fob. I was on such a buzz from ALL the fabric goodness I was ‘dancing in the aisles’! 🎶 Do a little dance… 🎶 😂
AND we were given this fun tote bag which came in handy for carrying my fabric stash in on the plane!
AND the highlight of
the Missouri Star Quilt Co experience…
Here I am with our the Missouri Star Quilt Company founder/superstar Jenny Doan. Jenny is the star behind Missouri Star Quilt Co. and I was completely star-struck to have my pic with her (fan-girl moment!!!!) but she is so lovely and down to earth… if you watch her Youtube videos you’ll never be scared of quilting again!
If you haven’t been – I hope you make it to Hamilton someday! 😀
bye for now,
Pauline
