It’s taken a while to come up with my latest design, I’ve been side-tracked designing the Fair Trade toys and the Sydney Show – WHO’d have thought that making toys would make me THIS busy?
Heather the Hippo is something a little different, you see, she is the very first Funky Friends Factory pattern that was designed using NON-STRETCH fabrics…
I usually design in fleece which is nice and stretchy so this was a real challenge for me – especially with such a ‘buxom’ creature! Before I forget, Heather wants me to tell everyone that any ‘lines’ you may see are NOT fat rolls – they are puckers in her seams… Well, who am I to burst her bubble! I think she’s really cute and cuddlesome just as she is! : )
She can be made from any non-stretch fabrics eg. cotton drill, cottons, corduroy and quilting fabrics. Although the pattern says to use non-stretch fabrics, the Hippo can be also be made from fleece, but I don’t think she is quite as cute as in the non-stretch fabrics which shows off her naturally curvy shape!
The Heather the Hippo pattern is available now, from the Funky Friends Factory website, either as a PDF download pattern or a printed pattern.
Hope you like her!

bye for now,
