It’s been a long-time dream of mine to go to the Birmingham Festival of Quilts in the UK… and what a FUN roller-coaster ride of a trip it was!
I had a blast hanging out with my UK distributor of Funky Friends Factory patterns, Oh Sew Sweet Shop at the show!
AND had fun meeting so many existing Funky Friends Factory fans, getting to know some NEW ones too!
I ALSO got to meet some FAMOUS people ~ including Stuart Hillard from the Great British Sewing Bee!!! 🤩
Stuart Hillard was on the first season of The Great British Sewing Bee in 2013. He appears regularly on TV, writes Sewing & Quilting and designs fabrics for The Craft Cotton Company.
His latest fabric collection – Blue Skies & Nutmeg by Stuart Hillard – combines deep blues, mustard yellows, warm neutrals and cute patterns including florals, stripes and… wait for it…

Oh my I just love Stuart Hillyard’s fabric line. As I scrolled through the patterns I could see so many of them made up in his fabrics. But I particularly think the Mango the Meerkat would especially like so dashing in plaids, floral, and dots.
I think Taylor the tiger would look brilliant. The stripey material will be brilliant for the stripes on his back and the spotty stuff would be better on the face and maybe the flowery on his ears in the back of his head either way look brilliant.

Obviously, it would be wrong not to use these gorgeous fabrics on the Chook/Chicken pattern. But I also think they’d be stunning paired with Daisy Dress up doll. Timmy T-Rex with chicken fabric. Hear me out: birds are the descendants of dinosaurs, and many types of birds have not forgotten this. You see it more with geese, but chickens are not above dinosaur behavior either. I think the blue chicken pattern with the yellow floral as contrasting pieces.

I just got the snake, the dragon, the triceratops and the moose pattern from you. I’m excited to make them. My problems with your patterns are that they are so sweet. downloaded a couple of bear patterns for memory bears. It’s scary when you are cutting up someone’s loved ones clothes. LOVED the patterns and the video that I could stop and start!!!

I believe that you are correct, the chicken or the goat would be perfect for this fabric stash. The colors would compliment and be right at home in any farmhouse setting.

I think the material would look great with the new chicken fabric! In Northern California, people rent goats rather than mow their grass! I’d love to win the fabric and the pattern to remind me of my home town!
I think some floppy ears for Dixie dachshund would be adorable with those chickens on the inside!
I think Dilby Duckling would look great in those fabrics…floral mustard on the bill and feet, blue stripe on the body and chickens on blue for the wings! Of course, I’m partial to Dilby because I’ve made several Dilbies as memory ducks!

I don’t think you could go wrong with any Funky Friends Factory pattern but I would choose Chook/Chicken to make with this beautiful fabric.
