When is a Wombat Pattern NOT a Wombat? …… when it’s a PEACOCK Pattern!

Aug 10, 2012 | A day in my life, Blog, NEW Toy Patterns

I KNOW I have been threatening to release my Wombat Pattern for ages BUT there seems to have been a reason why I have been battling with… well, there’s NO kind way to put this, his butt!!!! I had just finished sewing the final wombat prototype which I was FINALLY really happy with…

when the strangest coincidence happened!

After months of agonising over him, and just at the minute I decided he’s “good to go” I got a phone call from a magazine editor saying she was in a pickle as they’d finally decided on an Australiana theme and she had 4 weeks to get an Aussie Softie Pattern and she was just phoning to see if I could make a WOMBAT PATTERN!!!!

So………..you’re NOT going to believe this BUT this wilful WOMBAT has been pipped at the post by

the cutest EVER
little baby PEACOCK!!!!

Peacock softie toy sewing pattern design

This is little Punju Peacock toy sewing pattern, and she is named after one of the lovely Blue Mango sewers who I worked with at the Fair Trade organisation in Feb this year.

I have really battled to take a photo that shows you just how cute she really IS in “REAL LIFE”

Let me try another angle?

…and another?

OK I’m just showing her off now!!!!

Well, just like EVERY NEW MUM, I think my new baby is very sweet but I REALLY do feel bad, and I am so sorry to let down those of you who are dying for a wombat pattern BUT it was a too good an opportunity to pass up, plus it is a paid submission– YAY!!! So I’ll have to ask you to be patient a little bit longer… thanks in advance! 🙂

I REALLY hope she is a good enough substitute for a wombat!!!!

Pauline your baby peacock is absolutely beautiful. Will purchase the pattern when I can get to my computer.I am using Petes I pad in bed.

I was thinking about the Wombat pattern and agree you could not let that opportunity pass you by. Couldn’t you make a similar Wombat pattern, soit will be different from your first one? Just a thought.

Another idea is turning it into kiwiana by removing the fan and headpiece and in the colours above it turns into a pukeko!!! Maybe move the wings a little higher?? Another use of a great pattern!!
