We’ve had so many wonderful entries in the Halloween Contest this year! THANKFULLY it was a random entry drawing and I didn’t have to choose the winner myself – it would have been way too hard to pick a favourite!😋 Scroll down to the end of this post to see if you won!

But first ~>
a final roundup
of some recent highlights…
Let’s start with LOTS of LOVELY WITCHES!
The Whitney Witch pattern was one of the most popular entry choices this year. Check out this pretty purple Whitney Witch sewn by Almira S. This witch has such trendy hair! If you look closely you can see Almira used 2 colours of felt to create a cute Halloween hairstyle for her witch!

Wow, it’s two Halloween favorites in one photo, plus a fancy bubbling cauldron! Christy Rupe sewed up this Whitney Witch and her Patch Pussy Cat friend. 🐈⬛ Looks like Patch is ready to investigate those shiny bubbles in the cauldron brew.

Here’s a close up of her cute Halloween Patch Pussy cat…

What a happy, smiley friend! This Whitney Witch sewn by Kerry Hansen looks pretty as a pumpkim in shades of orange. Did you notice the orange stripes on her socks are sewing measuring tape? If you look closely, you can also see a curvy orange decorative stitch on the hat brim.

More Halloween Cats & other spooky favorites!
This year we had two different cat patterns submitted as entries, both Patch Pussycat and the new pattern Socks the Sitting Cat. Here’s a Patch Pussycat sewn by Lisa Johnson in cute Halloween prints. She did a great job with fussy-cutting by centering a cobweb on Patch’s cheek.

There’s more fussy-cutting to see on this entry sewn by Elizabeth Magown. Elizabeth centered a cat skull fabric design of the forehead piece of Socks the SITTING Cat. It’s good to see Socks has in a collar so he won’t get lost.

Nat Egan went for a spooky look with her Frankenstein monster version of Socks the SITTING Cat – stitches and all! The orange eyes are a nice color contrast, along with the neck bow.

If you’ve got a lot of coordinating scraps from other projects, the Silly Scrap Snake pattern is a quick, fun way to use them up. This colorful snake was sewn by Joy Davies in a bunch of fun Halloween fabrics.

The fabrics on this Batty Bat are so festive and fun. He also looks like he’s ready to do a test flight in the sewing room. Lisa Johnson sewed this toy and left a note that it was her first try at the pattern. Great job, Lisa!

Alicia Rice sewed this very special Boo – from the Batty & Boo Bat & Ghost Pattern in honor of her best friend. She explained her choice of fabric and eyes in the caption. I bet this Boo is proud to have special antique buttons for eyes.

Lisa Mahoney sewed this cute Batty Bat and added colorful accent fabrics on the ears and wings, showing that bats don’t have to be all black. Lisa then took Batty outside for a photoshoot.🦇

Alicia Rice sewed this autumnal Goat in a sophisticated black and orange fabric design.

Next up, some UNUSUAL Halloween Characters…
How fun! Heather Shaw created a truly unique toy when she sewed the Coco Chameleon pattern in an unusual Halloween fabric. This yellow and navy blue combination makes a great departure from traditional Halloween colors.🎃 His tongue is orange, though!🧡

If you’re sewing toys for siblings, how do you make each to different, yet also similar? Just switch up the main color and contrast fabrics like Keely Birdsong Peffer did when she sewed this delightful duo of Halloween Tilly Tortoises.

Celebrating Halloween is somewhat new for us in Australia so it was fun to see this Halloween version of Plattie Platypus sent via email entry! His red eyes nicely coordinate with the fabric.

Normally we get lots of ducks for Easter, so this Halloween version of Dilby Duck is a fun treat. Leigh Ann Millard Jensen used fussy-cutting to perfectly place the eyes on the toy. Look closely and you’ll see the eyes are part of the fabric design!

Many magical Halloween MICE!!!!
Maximus Mouse was a popular choice for a Halloween toy again this week. Audrey Gorvett made this zombie version of Maximus Mouse with faux leather hands and feet.

Glow-in-the-dark fabric adds an extra element of fun to a handmade toy. Sharon Cupp Wagner sewed up Maximus Mouse in high contrast skeleton fabric and provided a “night view” photo of him, too. Sharon has placed a circle of white felt behind the black craft eyes on this toy, and that’s a great tip for when you’re sewing with dark fabrics.

This cute trick-or-treating trio of Maximus Mice was sewn by Erica Woolmington, Notice how carefully she placed the fabric skulls and spiders on the ears!!!!💀🕷️

Digger Dachshund is ready to go collect some candy (dog treats, I mean) dressed in his Halloween best. Digger was sewn by Megan Skapin.

What an adorable photo! This happy little boy gets to give out a Honey Teddy to each child in his preschool class. Kierney Stastny sewed 8 (!) Halloween Honey teddies for this wonderful surprise.

Tina Semora caught her Ben the BEGINNER Bear raiding the candy bowl. Do you see the black cats on each ear? Another great example of fabric placement. The makers really got on board with “fussy-cutting” this Halloween, as you’ve see throughout this post. I don’t think we’ve ever seen so much careful fabric placement in a set of contest entries.
