How to insert craft eyes in thick or furry fabrics like fleece:<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<blockquote style=\"padding: 0px 10px; margin: 30px 10px; border: solid 2px #b41e8e; color: #000000; text-align: left;\">\n<h1 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">STEP 1 <\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Use a pair of sharp-pointed scissors to make a small hole, JUST large enough for the shank of the Craft eye to fit through. (I have a cheap pair of nail scissors that are perfect for this!)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9373\" style=\"border: 1px solid #A8A5A9; padding: 4px;\" title=\"safety-eyes-tutorial-FLEECE\" src=\"https:\/\/manage.funkyfriendsfactory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/safety-eyes-tutorial-FLEECE.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"358\" \/><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"padding: 0px 10px; margin: 30px 10px; border: solid 2px #b41e8e; color: #000000; text-align: left;\">\n<h1 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">STEP 2 <\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Push the shank of the Craft eye through the hole you cut, from the RIGHT SIDE (front) of the fabric. I am using Sage Opaque Craft Eyes which are hand painted by <strong>Suncatcher Craft Eyes<\/strong>. They come in the most amazing shimmery colours and the quality is second to none!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9511\" style=\"border: 1px solid #a8a5a9; padding: 4px;\" title=\"safety-eyes-tutorial-INSERTED\" src=\"https:\/\/manage.funkyfriendsfactory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/safety-eyes-tutorial-INSERTED.jpg\" alt=\"safety eyes tutorial inserted\" width=\"475\" height=\"358\" \/><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote style=\"padding: 0px 10px; margin: 30px 10px; border: solid 2px #b41e8e; color: #000000; text-align: left;\">\n<h1 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">STEP 3 <\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Place the washer onto the shank of the Craft eye&#8230;and push it down EVENLY,\u00a0 until it &#8216;clips&#8217; into place.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9376\" style=\"border: 1px solid #A8A5A9; padding: 4px;\" title=\"safety-eyes-tutorial-push-w\" src=\"https:\/\/manage.funkyfriendsfactory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/safety-eyes-tutorial-push-w.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"358\" \/><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>This is great for fleece or fur&#8230;<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Fleece fabric is nice and &#8216;fluffy&#8217; and so the eyes will sink into the fur\/pile a little and fit nice and snuggly in place&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9375\" style=\"border: 1px solid #A8A5A9; padding: 4px;\" title=\"safety-eyes-tutorial-polar-\" src=\"https:\/\/manage.funkyfriendsfactory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/safety-eyes-tutorial-polar-.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"520\" height=\"390\" \/><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>BUT not for THIN fabrics?<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>I wasn&#8217;t happy with the way the eyes looked &#8216;loose&#8217; and\u00a0 jiggled around a bit when I used thinner fabrics like quilting cottons, so now I do things a bit differently for thin fabrics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9513 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 1px solid #a8a5a9; padding: 4px;\" title=\"safety-eye-tutorial-ugly-gap\" src=\"https:\/\/manage.funkyfriendsfactory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/safety-eye-tutorial-ugly-gap.jpg\" alt=\"safety eye tutorial - ugly gap\" width=\"520\" height=\"390\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>2. How to insert craft eyes in<\/strong> <strong>thin fabrics like quilting cottons:<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<blockquote style=\"padding: 0px 10px; margin: 30px 10px; border: solid 2px #b41e8e; color: #000000; text-align: left;\">\n<h1 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">STEP A <\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Use a seam-ripper to make a very small hole. Work it slowly until it is JUST big enough for the shank of the Craft eye to squeeze through.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9386 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 1px solid #a8a5a9; margin: 30px 10px; border: solid 2px #b41e8e; color: #000000; text-align: left;\">\n<h1 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">STEP C <\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>I added a drop of &#8216;Fray Stop&#8217; to prevent the eye working loose with lots of play!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9382\" style=\"border: 1px solid #A8A5A9; margin: 30px 10px; border: solid 2px #b41e8e; color: #000000; text-align: left;\">\n<h1 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">STEP D <\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Cut a square of felt and made a hole in it with the seam-ripper.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9387\" style=\"border: 1px solid #A8A5A9; margin: 30px 10px; border: solid 2px #b41e8e; color: #000000; text-align: left;\">\n<h1 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">STEP E <\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Place the felt square onto the shank of the Craft eye, before adding the washer and pushing it down EVENLY,\u00a0 until it &#8216;clips&#8217; margin: 30px 10px; border: solid 2px #b41e8e; color: #000000; text-align: left;\">\n<h1 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">BEFORE:<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Look what happens to the GREEN Craft eye when you stuff the toy &#8211; it pops &#8216;out&#8217; of the fabric and looks awful!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9388\" style=\"border: 1px solid #a8a5a9;
